Morning Sickness

I had my first experience with Morning Sickness on Wednesday.  Not fun!  It started like any other day: I woke up at 4:50 as usual to work out.  I was tired, but other than that, felt fine.  Twelve minutes into my workout I felt extremely nauseous.  For fear of losing it, I cut my workout short.  I thought that I just needed to eat something, but I had trouble even choking down my bowl of cereal.  Things just got worse when I got to work.  Nothing seemed to help.  If I did not eat, I felt nauseous.  If I ate, I felt nauseous.  If I drank water, I felt nauseous.  If I sat there doing nothing, I felt nauseous.  If I was up moving, I felt nauseous.  Finally I got a break for lunch at 3 and laid down in the recliner in the break room.  I set the alarm on my phone for 3:30 and dozed off.  Relief!  I woke up feeling better, not great, but better.  I grabbed a ginger ale out of the fridge at work and the rest of the day was manageable.  I think the days of my early morning workouts might be over.  Bummer.

Due Date

I realized that I have not announced the Due Date of little PoppySeed yet.  The doctor said he/she is due on July 13th!  On my side of the family there are no July birthdays that I know of.  However, M's side of the family has 6 plus birthdays in July.  That is okay, though, PoppySeed's birthday will be special anyway.  I am really hoping he/she will come early on July 3rd or 4th, because I always thought it would so neat to have fireworks on your birthday!  Although, any summer time birthday would be great.

Meet the Older Siblings-To-Be

To be perfectly honest, M and I are already proud parents.  We have two wonderful dogs: Deuce, the Maltese and Brinks, the Rottweiler.  We got Deuce just over two years ago.  I really wanted a little lap dog and M was interested in a Maltese since he had a Bichon Frise growing up and they are similar breeds.  The first day we brought Deuce home, he attached to M.  I was visibly disappointed, so M told Deuce, "Go to Mom."  Deuce reluctantly walked over towards me, curled up in my lap, and has never gone back.  He has been such a loyal and loving companion.  This December we will celebrate his third birthday.  Deuce truly has been a great addition to our family.
Brinks joined our family a year and a half ago.  Since Deuce almost instantly became extremely attached to me, M wanted a dog of his own.  M started researching dog breed and fell in love with the Rottweiler.  I thought the Rottweiler was a beautiful breed, but was not sure about owning a big dog.  M knew how to win me over, though.  We went to "just look" at Rottweiler puppies one day and I fell in love with the Rottweiler too.  That Valentines Day, I surprised M with Brinks.  On the way home, she rode on my lap and was only 16lbs.  M was so excited when he came home from work and saw her.  In December, Brinks will be two and is weighing in at 94lbs.  She has been a very sweet dog.
Both dogs have such big personalities.  Deuce, the Maltese, thinks he is a guard dog and barks at everything that passes by our house.  Brinks, on the other hand, thinks she is a lap dog.  She will try and get up on the couch with M and I when we are watching a movie.  My Mom says our dogs have identity crisis es.  I would have to agree.  They are wonderful, though, even with their little quirks.

Symptoms

Waking up at 4:50am is becoming more difficult. I like to get up and work out before work, but this past week I have felt absolutely exhausted. Apparently, making a baby is hard work, even when they are the size of a orange seed. I truly am grateful, though. If fatigue is my only symptom, I should not complain. It could be a lot worse and a lot less enjoyable. Right now M and I are so happy. Speaking of M, it is so neat to see how involved he is already. On Monday night when I was at school M researched pregnancy on the Internet. He signed us up for this free online service that emails you updates on your progress. I kept getting texts in class from him saying, "Did you know?...". And he always asks me if I am feeling okay now. It is so adorable. M is going to make a great Dad!

Confirmed!

I went to the Doctor today to confirm that the home pregnancy test was accurate. Their test turned out positive too. This is really happening! We are so excited. I also had to get a referral to go see an OBGYN. M and I chose to use a Midwife instead so I should have our first appointment with her in a few weeks. I can't wait to hear the heart beat.
